Refreshing Apple Lime Smoothie

I love experimenting with all types of smoothie recipes because the possibilities really are endless. I have to keep it fresh because I can get bored easily and I’m not the type of person who likes the same foods every day. Nutritionally, it’s so much better to get a variety of foods than sticking to the same thing every day, so don’t be afraid to try some new combinations! Your body will thank you and you just may find you love a healthy ingredient that you might not have thought to use before.  There are incredible benefits from the spinach and bok choy in this smoothie alone! If you are a little hesitant to try bok choy (although you can only taste the delicious fruit) you can always omit it! Spinach and bok choy are amazing leafy greens that will give you a natural energy boost along with tons of fiber, folate, vitamin K, and are full of powerful antioxidants!

Freezing bananas that are very ripe are a great way to have them on hand in the freezer whenever you want to make a creamy and delicious smoothie.

Refreshing Apple Lime Smoothie 

What you need: a high speed blender

Serves 2

Ingredients:

-1 frozen banana

-1 apple

-1 large handful of raw baby spinach

-1 large bok choy leaf, destemmed

-juice from 1/2 lime

-3 tbsp. plant based protein powder (such as Nutiva hemp protein)

-2 cups of water

Method: Blend all ingredients in a high speed blender until smooth, and enjoy with someone you love!
